Ethan supports the BNFSC in Academic Policy, Systems, Performance, and Assessment. Ethan  earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from Iowa State University. Shortly thereafter, he joined Teach For America and began teaching in New York City. He taught 6th and 8th grade English for 8 years. While a teacher, he was a department chair, grade team leader, and data researcher. In 2010, Ethan was awarded a $10K grant through Fund For Teachers to document oral histories of genocide in Bangladesh, and presented his findings at Expeditionary Learning National Conferences. In 2012, Ethan was nominated by his students and colleagues for the R. Gaynor McGown Excellence in Teaching Award, given annually for exemplary teachers working in NYC Outward Bound schools. He earned his SBL license through the Leaders in Education Apprenticeship Program (LEAP) in 2015 and has an M.Ed. from Pace University.
