Betsy has worked as a Network/Borough Instructional Coach for five years, specializing in Literacy, third to eighth grade.  Prior to coaching, she taught Humanities at the Salk School of Science for seven years, where she developed project-based units, coordinated admissions, and pioneered social-emotional learning structures for middle school students.  In addition, Betsy has served as a curriculum writer for citywide Social Studies trade book guides, as an elementary grade teacher, and as a summer GED instructor for incarcerated youth in upstate NY.  Betsy earned an MA in English Education from Teachers College at Columbia University, and throughout her career has trained with the Reading & Writing Project as a teacher and coach.  She holds a School Building Leader certification from Baruch College, and has a School District Leader certification through the DOE’s Advanced Leadership Institute.
